Stacey Dash was recently rumored to have been abruptly fired from “Single Ladies.” And as more rumors spread of the cast bickering and that LisaRaye McCoy was to blame for Dash’s alleged firing (a claim McCoy denies), Dash has now announced that she is making her departure from the show, though, not because of McCoy.
In a statement sent to The Source, Dash, who plays lead character Valerie “Val” Stokes on the show, complained that show’s shooting location (Atlanta) is interfering with her family life back in Los Angeles. And while she enjoyed her time on “Single Ladies,” she’s leaving to play a bigger role, that of a mother to her children.
“I truly enjoyed playing Val on ‘Single Ladies,’ but I have decided to leave the show. I have to be back in L.A. with my children right now and the ‘Single Ladies’ shooting location makes that impossible,” Dash said. “I wish VH1 the best of luck with the show and in maintaining the strong fan base we developed in season one.”
In regards to her departure, VH1 released a statement saying they “respect Stacey’s decision and her commitment to what she feels is best for her family. We thank her for all of her hard work in making ‘Single Ladies’ a success right out of the gate, and we wish her nothing but the best in her future plans.”
Considering how well Dash fit the character of “Val,” we’re hard-pressed to think of a suitable replacement for the ageless bombshell. Who do you think should replace Dash? –nicholas robinson
