The Lox
Rap trio The Lox found success on their original label Bad Boy, but in the late ’90s the crew complained that the label’s glossy, commercial rap style didn’t fit their genuine hard-core image. After several failed legal attempts to leave the label, the group started a successful grassroots movement to be released from their contracts. The Lox jumped ship to Ruff Ryders and were released from their contract several years later, though.
