2. How did you come up with the name of the book, which is brilliant, as well as the name of the protagonist MyMy. What does her name represent?
I have children ranging from 5, 13, 19, 22 and 23 yrs old. I would take my two youngest children to the theater to see the movie “Ice Age”. In the movie there is a squirrel that is chasing a nut throughout the entire movie. No matter what challenges the squirrel encountered, it never gave up the pursuit of the nut. While watching the movie, I realized that the squirrel’s pursuit of the nut is a metaphor for humans who are pursuing money, homes, and friendship in all walks of life, education and many other desires. We use the expression; I also realized that our nuts are removed by our own doing or by the doings of others: our cars are repossesed; homes are foreclosed; downsized from a job; the relationships end.
In our lives we are confronted with the dilemma of ‘do we chase old nuts or pursuing new nuts?’ I decided to name the book Who Moved My Nuts? because I want the reader to give attention to the realization that preparation must be done to bounce back from a lost and that preparation is necessary for the acquisition of what we desire. The protagonist who is a squirrel is named MyMy which is short for my 13 year old daughter Myesha. Myesha has such a competitive and insatiable spirit to meet and overcome obstacles. She will continue to pursue her goals until she acquire them. She reminds me of what most adults use to be before they lost faith in their abilities and stopped pursuing their dreams.
