How did you get into fashion?
Fashion has run in my blood for a long time. I was a tomboy in high school, and the Jordans [gym shoes] were the tomboy and the edgy side of me. But I had to stay true to who I was, so my Jordans were my tomboy/rebel side and my Dooney & Burke [bag] was my bourgeois girlie girl side.
Do you still satisfy that tomboy side with Jordans? They’re quite the rage right now…
Now it’s just heels and spikes and pearls and spikes. I only have one pair of sneakers now, and those are what I wear when I work out. I never thought I would give up sneakers, but I did. I must have my pumps or my stilettos.
What can your customers expect to find in your boutique?
I can guarantee you will see items that you have never seen before. There will be an item that you can’t resist and you will pick up that item and ask me how to wear it. I like to have people play with their apparel; it makes the apparel more interesting.
