Trina Braxton Talks New Single 'Party or Go Home,' New Video and the Braxton Reality Fallout

When Trina Braxton disrobed to unveil a ruby red feathered bodice on the set of her debut video, “Party or Go Home,” it was an event unto itself. She had poured her all of her caramel-coated curvaciousness into an outfit that was hanging on for dear life. Most men in the room were staring hard enough to drill holes in concrete.

Oh, I almost forgot (wiping the sweat off my forehead), the reason we were all assembled inside a cavernous warehouse on a Sunday afternoon was to hear and see the middle child of the Braxton sisters perform the pulsating pop anthem “Party or Go Home,” her debut song and video.

Afterwards, Braxton spent a few minutes detailing her new video, single and emerging from the protective bastion of the formidable Braxton sisters to reveal what she has in store for her burgeoning fanbase.

What does the actualization of your first pop video mean to you and your evolution as an artist?

Well, to me it shows that I am capable to stand alone, because my entire life I have on made music with my sisters, it was one thing to actually be excited about the launch of my single but to actually go through the process of shooting my very first video excites me even more because I am proving to myself that I am very well capable of being just Trina Braxton, with my sister’s still supporting me with this huge decision I made to launch my solo career.

The single “Party or Go Home” is hot and infectious, definitely a club banger. Is this the type of material we should expect from you moving forward. What do you have in store for us?

I chose pop music because it reflects the real Trina, because I enjoy all genres of music, it shows my personality and I wanted to express me throughout this journey because it’s really versatile, it can be played on any radio station and club and that was very important to me when I sat down to map out this EP, I really wanted people to hear my music and just have fun.

Are you satisfied with how you have been portrayed on the Braxton family reality show?

Well it’s reality, I knew what I signed up for, the show allowed me to examine myself as a person, you live with yourself everyday and your blind to certain aspects of your life, but seeing it being played right in front of you is counseling enough to point out things you need to work on and this show has been that blessing for me to dissect each area I know that needed to be changed and what needs to be focused on for me to be a better person for myself and my children.

What are some of the things that you would like to do with the platform that the Braxton reality show has provided?

I want to show the world the business side of Trina Braxton, because no one knows this besides my family and very close friends, “Braxton Family Values” has opened more doors for me to expand my brand and I am very capable of making all my endeavors successful ones. I plan on returning back to school for my Master’s just to finish putting the stamp on my brand, so I am very motivated and super excited.
