Investigators are still trying to piece together what caused a four-alarm blaze at Tyler Perry Studios last night in Atlanta. As previously reported, 96 firefighters were called to the scene late Tuesday when one building went up in flames. Part of that building has since collapsed.
Capt. Jolyon Bundrige with the Atlanta Fire Department told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the while fire’s out, the “cause remains under investigation” and at least one fire truck remained on scene till 7:30 a.m. this morning. Perry, who was not at the scene at the time of the blaze, declined to speak with reporters but was seen speaking with Atlanta Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran. Tyler Perry Studios employees were instructed not to speak with the media as well.
There are still no reports of injuries at the 60-acre studios that includes five sound stages. In March, a fundraiser for President Barack Obama was held at the studios. –danielle canada
