Things just got interesting for Lauryn Hill. The five-time Grammy winner has just been charged with failing to file income tax returns for several years with the IRS. The charge was announced today by the U.S. attorney’s office in New Jersey.
Federal prosecutors charged Hill with willfully failing to file income tax returns with the IRS. According to authorities, Hill earned more than $1.6 million during the three years that she failed to file returns. Prosecutors contend that her primary source of income is royalties from the recording and film industries. Hill, 37, is set to appear before a federal magistrate on June 29.
