Simmons Defends His Ex-Wife
When news hit the Net on June 5 that Hollywood “It” couple Djimon Hounsou and Kimora Lee Simmons had split after six years together, many wondered why. Now Simmons’ ex-husband is speaking out to clear the air. Media mogul Russell Simmons, who has two children with Kimora, penned a blog on his GlobalGrind website on June 6 blasting The New York Daily News for what he calls a fabrication of “unfounded rumors.” As previously reported, the NYDN reported from a source that the couple split over a money issue. “Djimon walked out on Kimora,” said the source to the publication. Furthermore, The Daily News reported that the breakup may have been prompted by Russell’s decision to stop funding the pair’s lifestyle.
According to Simmons however Djimon and his ex who he calls his best friend, are doing just fine and not suffering financially. Furthermore, they’re both doing well in their professional jobs; Kimora with her multiple businesses and Djimon with acting.
“1. Kimora and Djimon are fine,” wrote Simmons. “2. Kimora and Djimon are both doing extremely well in their respective endeavors and businesses and don’t need to fight over or waste energy on money issues.” “I damn sure don’t pay nor have I ever paid alimony (Kimora does just fine). In no way do I support their lifestyle, so please don’t say they are fighting over MY money,” he added.
In addition to writing about their personal lives, Simmons confirmed that his model ex was selling a house separate from the one the couple currently resides in.
