When LeBron James led the Miami Heat past the Oklahoma City Thunder to an NBA title, he took himself off the list among the best athletes and sports personalities in the country who haven’t won a title. Now that King James gets to wear that nickname appropriately after nine years in the league at age 27, the national spotlight will get diverted to other high-profile sports superstars and personalities.
Some are the recipients of what is considered outlandish contracts. Others replaced a popular player with with equal (or more) talent, creating confusion and ill will among veteran players and/or a loyal fan base.
