DJ DON CANNON
DJ Don Cannon has been blowing out our speakers with his infectious beats for well over a
decade, teaming up with hip hop’s A-list rappers including Outkast (“Da Art of Storytellin’- Part
2”), Young Jeezy featuring Jay-Z (“Go Crazy”), Ludac- ris (“Everybody Hates Chris”) and the list
continues. Dubbed a celebrity DJ, he’s served as producer and engineer on dozens of albums.
The Philadelphia-born deejay/producer vaunts that he’s been playing key- boards, drums and
rapping since he was a precocious five-year-old.
“I think it just came to me naturally. I never just started doing it. I have played with instruments all
my life,” Cannon avers.
Cannon co-hosts the “Infamy Radio” show on Sirius/XM Radio with DJ Infa- mous. And the
founding CEO of Cannon Music, LLC is steadily expanding his brand to include production
collaborations with brands and celebrities like Amar’e Stoudemire’s NBA All-Star weekend
events, and the Atlanta Hawks and Thrashers season theme songs.
A producing mastermind, he encourages up-and-comers to really delve deep into the business. “If
you want to become a great producer, get as much knowl- edge of instruments, the history, like
who did what record, the great records. Please make sure you have all the knowledge to stay in
this game. If you’re trying to make history, learn the history.”
Although Cannon has been blessed to work with the biggest names in the busi- ness, he
remains humble, “I work with individuals that just inspire me to keep going.” He cites DJ Premier,
Timberland, Pete Rock, Dr. Dre, and J Dilla as key influences.
