Williams Drops Face-Slapping Suit
Months after “Basketball Wive”s star Jennifer Williams made a stink about being slapped across her face, she’s decided to back down and drop her lawsuit. Williams, who was slapped by Nia Crooks, an ex-friend and assistant to Evelyn Lozada, has decided to drop her suit against the woman after months of deliberation. A rep told TMZ that Williams decided to abandon the suit because she is “already dealing with her difficult divorce and did not feel that it was necessary to continue to pursue civil action.”
Williams’ decision doesn’t come without controversy, however. A lawyer for her slap-happy archenemies also released a statement and accused her of initially filing the suit as a failed attempt at relevancy.
“We have always maintained that the frivolous lawsuit brought by Jennifer Williams was nothing short of a last-gasp attempt to maintain her dwindling relevance on the ‘Basketball Wives,’ ” Crook’s lawyer said.
Williams obviously caught wind of the words from the attorney and posted on her Twitter account this morning, “FYI- dropping a civil lawsuit doesn’t mean you don’t have to deal with the criminal charges! Maintaining my relevance” oh ok! Just be thankful and keep it moving.. Some ppl never get it! SMH!”
Crooks, however, remained coy on the situation and replied, “Twitter is on one today. Blogs must be up & poppin’. Sheez.”
Before today’s news, Wiliams was in headlines for a Bentley repossession and news that her estranged husband fathered a child during their marriage. –danielle canada
