5 Ways to Support Obama When You’re Broke
Are you frustrated by the tempting fundraisers that you receive from President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign because your money’s too tight to contribute?
Obama supporters know all too well about the fundraising offers: Raffles for free dinners with the first family and other fundraising events with celebrity supporters are enticing yet, for those who are broke, the emails can cause disappointment.
If you’re ends are tight, here are five other ways to assist the president as he seeks a second term.
5. Tell your friends why you like Obama
Most people learn about politics from discussions. Instead of the water-cooler gossip you might partake in on Mondays, talk about the positive things Obama has done for this nation. If you don’t know much about Obama’s achievements check out his website.
4. Donate your time
Although Obama’s campaign war chest isn’t as large as Mitt Romney’s, Obama has capitalized on grassroots organizing. Donate a Saturday each month until the elections in November.
3. Support him at rallies and marches
These public functions are great tools to show your support for Obama, but most important, you get to see your president live in action. It’s a win-win situation.
2. Proselytize on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube
Twitter and Facebook are large and extensive public forums. If you have 100 or 10,000 followers, circulating facts about Obama’s achievements or vocalizing your support for his policies can encourage people to vote, donate and support Obama. Create your own YouTube videos telling the world why you support Obama.
1. Vote for him
This is the most important thing you can do to assist President Obama as he seeks a second term. Although democracy doesn’t end at the vote, as an American, you must continue to organize and mobilize to meet your community’s needs. Vote; it’s free, but priceless.
