Ice Cube, DJ Drama Crown Coors Light's 'Coldest MC' in New York

Ice Cube understands what it takes to craft a great song. The veteran rapper has sold millions of records and has established a prolific solo career that spans over 20 years.

Ice Cube, along with DJ Drama, were at Irving plaza in New York city on July 26 to crown the “Coldest MC.” Sponsored by Coors Light, the competition featured eight finalists from Baltimore, Philadelphia, Atlanta and Charlotte, N.C.

Each MC had to prove their skills with several challenges that tested their lyrical skills in a cypher and their ability to rock the crowd with an original song. Felony Flame (Charlotte, N.C.)  and Lois LS Lane (Atlanta) were the first place and runner-up winners.

While DJ Drama and DJ Trauma both took turns spinning on the turntables, Ice Cube performed several of his classic hits such as “Natural Born Kill,” “Check Yo Self,” and “It Was a Good Day.”
