Oprah Winfrey stirred up a firestorm of praise and criticism recently, when she hit the cover of her O magazine, rocking her own natural, curly tresses. But while fans debated the impact of her “natural” hair, Winfrey has been busy getting wigged-out on the set of her new film, The Butler.
Yesterday, Aug. 1, Winfrey began tweeting from the set of the film and showed off a photo of herself rocking a wig with the film’s director, Lee Daniels.
“Director Lee Daniels and I trying to find some shade on set in NOLA. Yes that is a wig,” tweeted Winfrey, along with the photo.
Shortly afterwards, Winfrey tweeted a photo from her dressing room as she sat in front of a bevy of wigs that she referred to as her “girls.”
“Me and my ‘girls’ in the makeup trailer.#theBUTLER,” tweeted Winfrey.
Winfrey’s new wig collection is for her character in The Butler, a film which chronicles thirty years in the White House and stars “True Blood” actor Nelsan Ellis as Martin Luther King Jr. The film also includes actors Lenny Kravitz, Liam Neeson, Minka Kelly and Cuba Gooding Jr., who recently ran into legal trouble while down in New Orleans.
Well, whether natural or rocking a wig, we’re sure Winfrey is having a blast with her hair and her new film. And she’s not the only one who indulges in fake tresses. Check out some other wig-loving star below. – nicholas robinson
