After rushing to the hospital to be by his wife’s side after her medical scare, R&B star Bobby Brown returned to the Tom Joyner Family Reunion concert to perform with his bandmates, New Edition, before a sold-out crowd of 14,000 in suburban Orlando, Fla.
According to BlackAmericaWeb, Brown got onstage and proclaimed: “I’m seven and a half years off of narcotics, 21 days clean of alcohol, and I go by Bad Ass Bobby Brown!”
Before the concert, Brown took photos with radio Hall of Famer Tom Joyner backstage, and also shared a moment with a child Cassius, his only child with current wife Alicia Etheredge, blackamericaweb.com reported.
Brown and New Edition members of Ralph Tresvant, Michael Bivens, Ronnie DeVoe and Ricky Bell are celebrating their 30th year of performing since being founded in Boston in 1983. Johnny Gill joined the group in the late 1980s when Brown had a short but extremely successful run as a solo artist, particularly with his multiplatinum self-titled album.
