What events are you most proud of? Why?
A few years ago, I was hired to plan a 4-city tour for a documentary produced by Wal-Mart called The Will to Survive: The Story of the Gullah/Geechee Nation. The Gullah/Geechee people represent the very important yet little known, living history of the African American connection to our original homeland.
My first year handling PR for the Kanye West Foundation’s “Stay in School” Concert that was to be televised on Fuse TV. I was the final member to join the team and we had a few short weeks to plan a press conference, an afternoon concert, a red carpet reception and evening concert — to take place all in one day.
The reward — the expression on Mr. West’s face when he walked into the press conference, filled to capacity with cameras and his post-event praise.
I have to mention the first annual Common Ground Foundation Gala where Common honored Dr. Maya Angelou, Sherri Sheppard and Keke Palmer. I had the opportunity to spend the afternoon with Maya Angelou during the media junket … her wisdom is infinite and I was so blessed to share that day with her.
