Nicki Minaj was born Onika Tanya Maraj on Dec. 8, 1982, in Saint James, Trinidad, right off the northern coast of South America, to Indian and Afro-Trinidadian parents. But this young girl spent most of her time with her grandma while growing up because of abuse going on in her home.
