Forging ahead on his own after a successful career with The Impressions in the 1960s, Mayfield’s first album furthered his exploration of socio-political themes and no tune was more uplifting than this one. Challenging the public to believe in themselves and echoing the sentiments he explored in “Keep On Pushing” five years earlier, Mayfield sounded like a man that believed better days were ahead for his people.
