Sources revealed this week that superstar Beyoncé will have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to sing at the Super Bowl. The NFL only production costs are normally around $600,000. Beyoncé’s highly anticipated halftime show performance is estimated to be far higher — like $1 million, meaning she will have to pay the remaining cost of $400,000. The performance is rumored to include chariots, cheerleaders and a Givenchy haute couture outfit for the superstar to wear.
The 31-year-old singer is gearing up to perform in front of millions around the world on Sunday at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans during Super Bowl XLVII.
She recently signed a $50 million deal with halftime show sponsor Pepsi, so paying the remaining cost will still put the R&B Diva on top. Last year’s Super Bowl was watched by 48.3 per cent of the TV audience, and drew close to 114 million viewers.
“We pay the production costs for the halftime show, there is no fee for the artists,” said NFL spokesman Greg Aiello.
While explaining the matter, Marc Ganis, president of the consultancy Sportscorp Ltd., told MailOnline the performance would be partly funded by halftime show sponsor Pepsi, with whom Beyoncé recently signed a whopping $50 million deal, which also includes her beautiful face on the cans.
Ganis made it clear: ”Beyoncé will not get paid, but her backup singers, her musicians, all the extras — they will be paid by the NFL production budget.“
