Rihanna’s River Island collection
After showing her ready-to-wear collection at London Fashion Week, Rihanna was blasted with criticism. Rihanna, 24, debuted her Rihanna for River Island collection featuring midriff tops and the thigh-high slits often seen on the songstress herself. To some critics, however, the simplistic and skimpy designs were a bit much.
“The clothes were hideous and without an ounce of panache or style between them,” wrote Tom Sykes of The Daily Beast. “If you are totally nuts for navels, then this could be the collection for you,” he added.
Other critics weren’t as harsh but noted that the designs would be especially hard to wear for the everyday woman.” And they were cut to look good on those blessed with a fit physique,” wrote Gregory Katz of the Associated Press.
Other gripes included Rihanna’s tardiness after she arrived an hour late for the show and the smell of the venue, one writer mentioned that it smelled like a “malfunctioning smoke machine.”
