Tyler Perry on Kim Kardashian, married cheaters, and his next multimillion-dollar project

Jurnee does a tremendous job of “owning” the film. Why did you cast her?
Dr. Bill Cosby told me a few years ago to watch out for Jurnee. He told me she was amazing. From the first day, I knew she would take it to another level. She’s a brilliant actor.

Kim Kardashian comes off as extremely superficial in this film — it isn’t hard to believe that she could be that way. Did you write the part especially for her?
I don’t think Kim is superficial as a person. But I wrote the role as a funny girl who says what’s on her mind. She’s cruel and isn’t satisfied with Judith’s hair and wardrobe. And I thought she did a great job with it.

Can Kim Kardashian ever be taken seriously as an actress?
I think Kim can take acting and make it a long-term career choice if she wanted it. If she puts the work in, I actually think that she can do more roles.

What’s next for you?
I’ve got two movies in the can. So now I’m up to 15 films overall. I have A Madea Christmas movie that will come out, and Single Moms Club comes out in 2014. Now I’m doing two new shows for OWN network. They premiere in April and I’m super excited about it. TV is taking a lot of my time. I need to take a break.
