A$AP Rocky says dark-skinned girls shouldn’t wear red lipstick

A$AP Rocky blasted for giving lipstick advice

Rocker A$AP Rocky is raising eyebrows today after recent comments he made about a shade of lipstick. The self professed ‘pretty motherf—-‘ recently sat down with The Coveteur. When they asked the style guru about his thoughts on women’s makeup, he didn’t hold back. After admitting that he prefers women au naturale, the rapper went on a rant about darker skinned women wearing red lipstick.

“But for real, for me, I feel like with the red lipstick thing it all depends on the complexion. I’m just being for real,” said the Harlem rapper. “You have to be fair skinned to get away with that. Just like if you were to wear like—f—- for instance, what do dark skin girls have that you know fair skinned girls can’t do… Purple lipstick? Naw, that looks stupid on all girls! Purple lipstick, guys! Like, what the f—-…”

Prior to dissing millions of brown girls who not only rock red lipstick but listen to his records, A$AP dished on his own

aesthetic routine that includes using witch hazel because, “you’ve got to exfoliate, you know?”

Unfortunately for A$AP his recent beauty advice was completely misguided and has left more than a few fans up in arms.

Like several of A$AP’s female devotees, this writer couldn’t agree less with his close minded makeup opinion. A crimson colored pout in the correct shade can be flattering to any woman of any tone.

Below are just a few examples of celebrity women who are not fair skinned and have already debunked A$AP Rocky’s red lipstick misinformation.

Originally I didn’t care about his comment but most of your photos make a strong argument. I think he meant really bright lipstick and I do think bronze looks better on brown skin, but some of these photos prove otherwise. RO, you you proved your point. Bravo!

I’ve gotta point out though that a couple of the people you chose with red lipstick prove HIS point completely! The rest though look great. It really does depend on your complexion and how bright the makeup is. Same goes for blonde hair.

Chill, if he likes natural its his preference. He’s not telling anyone to do anything. He even stated he preferred natural women, men like that typically don’t care for bright shiny red lips. God. People find anything to bitch about.

I think he was mainly talking about VERY dark (Wesley Snipes’ complexion) women. They look like fools with bright red lipstick on. It just looks awful.

half of these women weren’t of dark complexion. Estelle did not look good in the red. Gabrielle union, Tika Sumpter, and Kelly Rowland however did wear it well.
