Valencia is competing to win the Miss South Carolina crown. The biracial lesbian has a Mexican father and an African American mother. Having won the title in her hometown of Lyman (a town in Spartanburg County, SC), it’s her dream to be the first openly gay candidate in her conservative state to hold the title.
