While the nation is still reeling from the tragic Boston Marathon bombings that happened on Monday, many are looking for someone to blame for the incident. And though charges have yet to be brought against any suspects, New York-based columnist and TV commentator Erik Rush recently claimed that Muslims are the culprits.
Just hours after the explosions, Rush shared his anti-Islamic views with his Twitter followers.
“Everybody do the National Security Ankle Grab! Let’s bring more Saudis in without screening them! C’mon!” he tweeted.
Rush later responded to a follower who asked him if he was already blaming Muslims by tweeting the following.
“Gotta love the Islamist apologist sphincters coming unglued at speculation that #bostonmarathon bombing might have been Islamists,” he added.
However, Rush later told one critic that his comments were sarcastic.
“Sarcasm, idiot,” he wrote.
But Rush later continued to tweet more anti-Islamic messages.
Hypothesis proven: Libs responding to “kill them all” sarcasm neglect fact that their precious Islamists say the same about us EVERY DAY,” he wrote. “It’s nice to see all the Islamist apologists standing up for those who would waste them in a heartbeat.
After the rant ended, a source close to Rush told RadarOnline that Rush was simply trying to stir up media attention for himself.
“This is exactly how Erik likes to stir up controversy,” said the source. “His crude and outrageous comments are nothing new for him.”
Regardless of what Rush’s motivations were, his words were nothing short of insensitive, inappropriate and inflammatory. In our nation’s post-911 era of life, anti-Islamic sentiments are still very real and it’s no surprise that many Muslims are stricken with more terror than most when acts of terrorism are performed for fear of being blamed, taunted or even attacked without just cause just because of their religion and skin tone.
