The New Jersey auction house filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Camden on Thursday, May 2, 2013 for the right to sell the items after Kobe’s lawyers wrote the firm telling it to cancel the auction scheduled for June. Kobe learned of the sale from a news release, which hit the wire on Tuesday, April 30, 2013.
