Terrell Owens made his debut this weekend as a semi-professional bowler. He bowled games of 185, 129 and 161 for a 475 series in the United States Bowling Congress Open Championship.
Owens is a celebrity owner of one of eight five-player teams in the new Professional Bowlers Association League, the Dallas Strikers. He has been spending a lot of time around the lanes this year since he’s not active in the NFL. He recently decided to take his game up a notch and work with some coaches and PBA bowlers on improving his skills and love for the game.
“I have a lot of stuff going on right now, but there happened to be a break in my schedule,” Owens told reporters, “I wanted to experience this tournament, and the experience was good. I’m really into bowling, and I like it a lot.”
“It’s all about repetition,” Owens said. “You’re only going to get out of it what you put in. I’m starting to get in a rhythm and starting to bowl a little more. I just tried to focus on some of the things I’ve been taught and dialed in on that.”
A couple weeks ago, Owens made it clear that he’s keeping himself in shape “just for any opportunity that may come about.” However, if the NFL doesn’t come knocking, Owens has found his back-up plan to keep his competitive juices flowing.
