Dorothea Puente ran a boarding house for the elderly in Sacramento, CA for years in the 1980s before it was discovered she was skimming money from her boarder’s benefit checks and burying them in her backyard when they died from what she claimed to be natural causes. She died in prison in 2011 at age 82.
