Many celebrities find the media’s relentless chronicling of the downward spiral of Amanda Bynes and Lindsay Lohan simply abhorrent. Many have come to their defense or have offered words of encouragement, particularly former child stars who can empathize with their feelings of confusion, disenchantment, depression and resentment.

Some former child stars have intentionally retreated from the spotlight as they grew older or taken sabbaticals from the business, while others quit Hollywood altogether because of the emotional and mental toll that the unforgiving industry can exact from children. They know what Bynes and Lohan are going through.

Take a look at what celebrities have to say about Amanda Bynes and Lindsay Lohan.

I defend them as well. Unfortunately for many outside the industry it’s easy to misjudge or mistake the unfavorable actions and behaviors of both Lindsay and Amanda or any troubled celeb for that matter. Why? Because outsiders have zero idea of what an “entertainer” has to endure on the other side of that closed, locked, and heavily guarded door to La-La Land… All people do is judge. When in fact they should stop, help, intervene and/or hope for the best.

I can’t stress enough that all that glitters ain’t gold and that sometimes the hardest thing to face in the industry is not so much the fans or the criticism as it is your own reflection, the you that stares back at you in the mirror every morning, every afternoon, every night, everyday. Being able to look at yourself and live with the things you’ve voluntarily or involuntarily done to be who you are, get where you’re going, do what you do and have what you have can be much harder for some than others. Some people have zero conscience and go with the flow (sell crack to their mom, stab their brother) and with no remorse. While others know the difference between right and wrong, but have to choose between being rich or staying poor, then compromising their standards while sacrificing their morals and values all for fame and fortune.

People would be surprised at the mental anguish most celebrities deal with thus the alcohol and drugs and the constant need for “rehab”. Sure it looks good, but so did Minnie’s Chocolate Cream Pie in the movie The Help! #thinkaboutthat
