Tayloni Mazyck will likely never walk again because of senseless gang violence. According to reports, the 11-year-old Brooklyn resident was standing outside with her mom, aunt and her aunt’s 7-year-old granddaughter on Friday evening.

All of a sudden, Kane Cooper, 17, began shooting at two men on the street. However, one of the bullets hit Mazyck in the neck and crushed her spine. Once she got to the hospital, the 11-year-old told her father that she couldn’t mover her arms or legs. Doctors reportedly told Mazyck’s family that she would never walk again.

When police arrested Cooper, they revealed that he laughed at the attack once they told him of the victim who was shot.

Gun violence continues to plague this nation. Unfortunately, right-wing organizations such as the NRA will continue to fight against gun control. Violent evidence proves that there is indeed a severe issue. According to a report by The Guardian, America ranks No. 1 in the world when it comes to gun ownership.

Mazyck was to graduate from 5th grade in a few weeks. Cooper is charged with attempted murder and reckless endangerment.
