If you thought the 1500-calorie Krispy Kreme burger was too much to handle, hold on to your socks because the doughnut giants are now revealing the Krispy Kreme Sloppy Joe at this year’s San Diego County Fair.
Krispy Kreme has teamed up with the “deep fry king” of California, chef Charlie Boghosian, to create the artery clogging combination. The sandwich contains a hefty portion of Sloppy Joe filling covered in shredded cheddar cheese and served between two halves of a Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut.
When asked if he’s tried the new sandwich, he replied, “Yes, I took that first bite, and I swear to you… my brains stopped, I couldn’t even think,” he told media. “Then I realized, the sweet and salty was unbelievable. Then I kept on eating and eating … I couldn’t put it down. I got addicted. It was so darn good.”
The KKSJ isn’t the only new menu item for Boghosian, the chef has also added items such as Krispy Kreme chicken sandwiches, bacon-wrapped pickles, deep-fried Twinkies, deep-fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, deep-fried cereal and last but not least, deep-fried balls of battered red Kool-Aid.
The new sandwich comes one week after competitor Dunkin’ Donuts released its Glazed Donut Breakfast Sandwich.
