Todd Akin claims only some rape is legitimate
Last year, Rep. Todd Akin (R-Missouri) claimed and argued against abortions, declaring that women can’t get pregnant under cases of “legitimate rape.”
“It seems to me, from what I understand from doctors, [pregnancy resulting from rape is] really rare. If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”
