There are few better career moves than signing on to the No. 1 rated soap and one of the world’s top-rated shows as it celebrates its 40th anniversary, but Williams admits to feeling uneasy about his good fortune sometimes.
“I feel almost guilty and that’s the truth because we are doing so much celebrating,” he confesses. “There are so many parties that are going on and so many events and things that we’re doing and everybody is ‘oh, congratulations on so many years’ and I’m brand new to the show. I just got here so I feel almost guilty. I’m very appreciative and very respectful for what ‘The Young and the Restless’ has done and how long they’ve been doing what they’re doing.”
As for whether his character Tyler will start a new chapter with Lily or strike up something with Abby, another longtime “Y&R” character, he says, “We kind of get scripts as we go. I’ll get the script and I’m just as surprised as the viewers are. … You don’t know what’s going to be around the corner so I actually don’t know the answer to that.”
But one thing he does know for sure: “You have to stay tuned.”
