New Orleans-inspired cocktails for Essence Festival

Ramos Fizz

Ingredients:


  • 2 ounces of gin
  • 1 ounce cream
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/2 ounce lemon juice
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice
  • 2 teaspoons sugar, to taste
  • 2-3 drops orange flower water
  • 1 or 2 ounces Seltzer (chilled)

Method:

In a shaker add everything except for the seltzer and shake for one minute with ice. Strain into a collins glass and add the one or two ounces of seltzer, to taste.

Daiquiri

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces light rum
  • 3/4 ounce fresh-squeezed lime juice (about 1/2 of a lime)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Method:

Pour the lime juice and sugar into a shaker and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Next, add in the rum and some ice and shake for ten seconds. Strain into a cocktail glass.  Garnish with a lime wedge if you want.
