George Zimmerman decides not to testify in 2nd-degree murder trial
As his defense team prepared to rest their case, an at times confused George Zimmerman declined to take the witness stand. During the trial Wednesday, Zimmerman was asked several times by Judge Debra Nelson if he wanted to testify. Initially, the defendant said he needed time to mull it over.
“Not at this time,” said Zimmerman before promising to make a decision by the end of the day.
After the court took a recess however, when asked again if he wanted to take the stand, Zimmerman quickly said “no.”
The defense will rest its case tomorrow.
As previously reported, there are seven strong reasons George Zimmerman refused to testify , mainly because of the various inconsistencies in his separate statements to police.
The jury could render a verdict before the week is over. -danielle canada
