Pink responds to Kanye’s 2009 diss: ‘We all still here’

This week, audio was uncovered featuring Kanye West ranting about racism, MTV and other artists following his 2009 VMAs debacle. At that year’s ceremony, West put himself in the center of controversy after he interrupted Taylor Swift‘s acceptance speech. Gawker obtained the almost four-year old sound clip of ‘Ye ranting to friends while reportedly dining at the Corner Bistro in New York City’s West Village.

One of the artists Kanye calls out in the clip is pop-rocker Pink. West apparently felt that the singer received far too much attention at the show.

“It ain’t no love. What the f–k was Pink performing? Don’t nobody know that song. Pink performed twice! Two songs? How the f–k Pink perform two songs and I didn’t even get asked to perform [his then-current single] ‘Heartless,'” he seems to say on the clip. “‘Heartless’ is the biggest song of the year! It had the most spins of the first quarter! I don’t know that Pink song! But I noticed that she’s pink!”

The audio began making the rounds a few days ago, and of course, word got to Pink of Kanye’s criticisms. But rather than engage in a war of words with the notoriously volatile star, she decided to dismiss the outdated recording and take the high road. Addressing the controversy via Twitter, Pink laughed off any notion that she would hold a grudge.

“Oh come on y’all… If people secretly recorded me and all the s–t I talk…” she tweeted. “It’s all good. All love. And we all still here. Peace please.”
