The Republican-controlled House of Representatives have voted to delay Obamacare for a year and to repeal a tax on medical devices. The battle ensued as Senate Democrats voiced they would reject this move when they meet on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, as well as the White House vowing to veto the measure because it’s equivalent to voting for a government shutdown.
The votes: 231-192 for the Obamacare delay and 248-174 for the medical device tax repeal were mostly along party lines. And to save face, a relief bill, to guarantee pay for military personnel during any shutdown, passed 423-0. The votes took place just after midnight.
