Basketball players draw fouls all the time for getting rough with each other on the court, but last week WNBA players Diana Taurasi and and Seimone Augustus both got fouls for doing the exact opposite after Taurasi kissed Augustus.
Taurasi’s Pheonix Mercury went head-to-head with Augustus’ Minnesota Lynx during the opening game of the WNBA Western Conference Finals last week and when the two All-Stars, who have been rivals since childhood, came face-to-face on the court, sparks of a different kind flew as the two began exchanging heated words with each other.
The rivals eventually ended up pushing and bumping shoulders, and just when it seemed like the two players would end up throwing punches, Taurasi broke the tension by planting a kiss on Augustus’ cheek. Both of them were then issued personal fouls over the kiss.
Despite the personal fouls, both players seemed to take it all in stride and Augustus, who is openly gay, later joked to the press that “As far as me and Diana and the tango dance that we had, I always say she just wanted some of my deliciousness.”
Taurasi also joked to reporters that “I was just trying to make sweet love. That’s about it.”
Well, we’re glad that the ladies had a sense of humor about it all and we hope Augustus’ fiancée, LaTaya Varner, doesn’t mind Taurasi trying to get some of her girlfriend’s “deliciousness.”
