Brooklyn Wright, 10, is a resident of Atlanta who visits schools and events to promote her award-winning interactive litter prevention program where she reads a portion of her book — The Adventures of the Earth Saver Girl, Don’t be a Litterbug — and turns into her storybook character “Earth Saver Girl.”
Mary Pat Hector, 15, is a resident of Atlanta who is the founder of a non-profit called Youth in Action USA, has launched an anti-gun violence campaign titled “Think Twice” and is the Youth Director at National Action Network (NAN).
Ty-Licia Hooker, 22, is a resident of Stockon, Calif. who is an active volunteer in her community who inspires hundreds of at-risk youth to follow their dreams despite their dire circumstances. She is also president/founder of STORM, a community outreach program, and the Summer Success and Leadership Academy.
The My Black is Beautiful’s ‘Imagine a Future’ initiative partnered with Black Girls Rock! to help empower young black girls to be their very best and to salute those who are exemplifying the essence of Imagine a Future’s mission – sparked by Janet Goldsboro’s voyage toward self-acceptance — which seeks to help black girls reimagine their beauty, self-worth, and future possibilities. The focus of My Black is Beautiful is to address the societal and cultural issues associated with black beauty and self-image to help young black girls feel confident about their beauty.
