Jay Z and Beyoncé are already wield tremendous influence when it comes to music, fashion and business, but now it appears that the hip-hop super couple are taking on a new challenge: their health. According to Jay Z, he and Beyoncé are going green in a different way as they challenge themselves to go vegan for a month.
On his Life + Times blog, Jay wrote that he and Bey are taking up the 22 Days challenge, an initiative started by exercise physiologist (and friend of Jay Z) Marco Borges. During the challenge participants must commit to 22 days of eating organic, vegan and gluten-free foods, and in his blog post Jay explains that he’s doing the challenge for both his body and his spirit.
“Psychologists have said it takes 21 days to make or break a habit. On the 22nd day, you’ve found the way.
On December 3rd, one day before my 44th birthday I will embark on a 22 Days challenge to go completely vegan, or as I prefer to call it, plant-based!! This all began a few months back when a good friend and vegan challenged me to embrace a “plant-based breakfast” every day. It was surprisingly easier on me than I thought …
Why now? There’s something spiritual to me about it being my 44th birthday and the serendipity behind the number of days in this challenge; 22 (2+2=4) coupled with the fact that the challenge ends on Christmas day … It just feels right!

Well, Jay and Bey clearly just became the mainstream couple of all couples among hipsters. Even better than that, they’re likely to inspire countless fans to give the challenge a try and to take their first steps into living a healthier life whether it’s by being vegan or just eating healthier and exercising.
