The Game may not be the poster child for nonviolence when it comes to rappers, but that doesn’t mean that he’s incapable of promoting peace and justice in the face of tragedy. And that point was made clear this week when Game offered to pay for the funeral of a young boy who was shot dead as a result of gang violence.
According to TMZ, a 7-year-old boy named Talib Pecantte was killed in a shooting in L.A. this week. After hearing about the boy’s death on the morning news, Game decided to begin raising funds to pay for the fallen boy’s funeral.
However, the big twist is that Game has gotten donations from top members of L.A.’s biggest gangs like the Bloods, the Crips and the Latin Kings. Game says that he’s already raised $7,000 and much of that money has come from the gang members.
Game says that he has no end goal for the fundraiser, he’s just going to continue raising money until donations stop coming in. He also claims that he’s working on orchestrating a cease-fire between the rival gangs, at least throughout the holidays.
We definitely commend The Game on his efforts to not only provide some comfort and security for the late boy’s family but also in trying to bring peace to the L.A. streets — at least for a little while.
And he’s not the only celebrity who’s been doing good deeds throughout the holiday season. Check out some other charitable celebs below. –nicholas robinson
