The NBA Retired Players Association – Atlanta chapter hosted the the first NBA Legends of Basketball Charity Corporate Mixer at The Suite Lounge sponsored by Exclusiv Vodka. The primary goal of the mixer was to build stronger relationships within the Atlanta community, providing efficient ways to benefit philanthropic activities and geared toward bringing together executive business leaders, young professionals and small business companies for an evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and networking. A silent auction was held to benefit an Atlanta nonprofit.
Dale Ellis, the president of the Atlanta chapter of the Retired Players Association of the NBA, is a retired player from the Charlotte Hornets, Dallas Mavericks and Seattle Supersonics. Ellis is well known for his work in the community. Just recently, Ellis teamed up with Kemay Jackson of KL Jackson Law and David Knight of Christian Social Network to support a turkey drive for a local nonprofit organization.
The first charity mixer was held on Dr. Martin Luther King’s official birthday to exemplify his legacy. One of Dr. King’s revolutionary visions was to end poverty and give back to communities: “There is nothing new about poverty. What is new, however, is that we now have the resources to get rid of it. The time has come for an all-out world war against poverty …”
