Juan Pablo Galavis, the star of the latest season of “The Bachelor,” found himself in a bubbling cauldron of hot water this weekend when he made a major moral and PR blunder and called the gay community “perverted.” Since then, a backlash against Galavis has swept the web and he’s now apologized for his homophobic comments.

The problem all began last Friday, when Galavis gave an interview with the TV Page and was asked his thoughts on the idea of a gay version of “The Bachelor.”

“No… I respect [gay people] but honestly, I don’t think it’s a good example for kids…,” Galavis said.

“Obviously people have their husband and wife and kids and that is how we are brought up. Now there are fathers having kids and all that, and it is hard for me to understand that too in the sense of a household. Two parents sleeping in the same bed and the kid going into bed… It is confusing in a sense,” he added.

Galavis then took his offense to new heights when he claimed that gay people are naturally “perverted.”

“There’s this thing about gay people… it seems to me, and I don’t know if I’m mistaken or not… but they’re more ‘pervert’ in a sense. And to me the show would be too strong… too hard to watch,” Galavis said.

Soon after his comments went public, a wave of fans responded with anger to Galavis’ words and he soon released a statement, apologizing for offending the LGBT community.
