How long have you been a personal trainer and what inspired you to become a personal trainer?
I have been a personal trainer for 5 years. I feel as if personal training was calling for me. Being fit and healthy are things that I’ve had a passion for and wanted to teach others. Sitting at a desk for eight or more hours a day wasn’t for me. I was always a social person and on the go so I got myself a job at LA Fitness. At LA Fitness, I started selling personal training packages. Although it was my job to get members to sign up for personal training, I found myself training more versus selling. It was then when I made the decision to become a certified personal trainer.
How much time should one set aside each week to effectively reach their fitness goals?
Beginners should start out slow, maybe just shooting for or two (30-45mins) workouts a week. Intermediates should shoot for three or four (45mins-1Hour) and the advanced can work out five or six times a week (1hr +). When starting, always remember that you should be make a commitment to set aside time for your exercise and set a goal you want to reach when staying in shape. Set realistic goals for yourself and don’t get discouraged if you feel that you cannot perform as well as you would like. If you are constantly working out, you will gradually see and feel changes over time, but it won’t happen overnight.
