When deputies in Winter Park, Fla., arrived at the home of Steve Miller, his house was packed and rocking with close to one hundred underage teen drinkers inside. Neighbors had complained and scores of cars were parked up and down the street of this normally quiet suburban community. The party was so wild that five teens were sent to the emergency room for alcohol poisoning, including the host of the party, Miller’s daughter. “We found five teenagers who appeared to have overdosed on alcohol and we are not sure of what type of drug right now,” stated Lt. Paul Hopkins of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Two of the teens may have mixed alcohol and the prescription drug Xanax.
Miller is a father of six and was asleep in his bedroom. He stated that he had fallen asleep and had no idea that his daughters’ having a few friends over would result in a wild party. “If my daughter told me they were going to have alcohol, I wouldn’t have permitted it. I didn’t see any drugs,” stated Miller.
Family and Children’s services investigated the household, but no determination has been made to remove the children. At this point, police have not filed charges and all of the teens have recovered.
