A college student fell to his death moments after eating legal marijuana cookies in Colorado. According to the Denver Post, Levy Thamba, 19, was visiting Denver with friends for spring break when the incident occurred.
While hanging with friends at a Holiday Inn, Thamba consumed several marijuana cookies that were purchased at a recreational marijuana store. Thamba’s friends told authorities that moments after he consumed the cookies, he began to display hostile behavior. His friends were able to calm him down initially and get him to rest in bed. However, Thamba jumped out of the bed, ran to the balcony and jumped four stories. Thamba died on impact.
The coroner’s office said that Thamba didn’t have a history of mental health issues and he tested negative for alcohol and other drugs besides marijuana. Thamba’s blood contained 7.2 nanograms of THC (the primary ingredient in marijuana). Colorado’s state law says impairment can occur with 5 nanograms of THC in the blood.
Thamba was an exchange student from the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Africa. He had recently started taking classes at Northwest College in Wyoming.
