Kenya Moore suffered a terrible loss in her family during Sunday night’s episode of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta/” She revealed to the world that her beloved dog of seven years, a Yorkie named Velvet, was mauled to death by a neighbor’s dog. Although Moore shed an ocean of tears for her deceased pooch, the following day a slew of viewers accused the reality TV star of faking Velvet’s death for ratings. Now, Moore is firing back and saying the accusations are totally false.
According to TMZ, the rumors started after reports claimed that Velvet was still alive and living with Moore’s assistant, Brandon DeShazer, after he began posting old photos of Velvet after the episode aired.
But once Moore got wind of the accusations, she spoke with TMZ and claimed that the reports are “vile” and “disgusting.”
“Anybody who has pets knows the kind of love you develop for them. To report that something like that would be staged … it’s disgusting,” said Moore, adding that the rumors are “evil.”
During next Sunday’s season finale of the show, Moore is expected to hold an emotional memorial service for Velvet. Considering all of the drama that Moore has brought to the table this season,it’s doubtful that she’d even need to fake her dog’s death to remain relevant on the show, and her heartbreak certainly seemed genuine enough. – nicholas robinson
