‘Scandal’s’ Shonda Rhimes gives update on Columbus Short

Shonda Rhimes

Columbus Short will not be recast in ‘Scandal’

Harrison Wright is dead and will not be coming back, according to Shonda Rhimes the creator of “Scandal.” The writer recently caused a stir on Twitter when she slammed reports that Columbus Short was being replaced on the TV show by actor Eric West. As previously reported, Short was nixed from the show in light of several real-life scandals in his life, including alleged spousal abuse and a murder-suicide threat. Most recently the troubled actor videotaped his estranged wife beating up one of his friends.

“I’ve never heard of Eric West,” Rhimes wrote about the recasting rumor. “Harrison is not being recast EVER. How about reporters CHECK THEIR SOURCES before running with a story,” she added.

The scribe was apparently talking to one publication in particular; Deadline which reported that West was would be reprising Harrison Wright’s character.

“Ummm @Deadline, Handle yourself,” added Rhimes.

Short has yet to comment on the story. Eric West, however, added that the story of his addition to the “Scandal” cast was “news to him.”
