From the moment the rich blue curtains were drawn, this writer had high hopes for the Atlanta showing of the long-running Broadway musical, “Evita,” which is now playing at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre. It’s based on the life of Eva Perón, an actress who married her night in shining armor, Juan Perón, to become the First Lady of Argentina.
Needless to say, the seven-time Tony Award-winning musical exceeded all expectations for me hands down. The performances were amazing, the story line trekked from surprising to silly to saddening.
