5 reasons to watch Marcos Maidana vs. Floyd Mayweather 2

Mayweather versus Maidanos

Floyd “Money” Mayweather and Marcos “El Chino” Maidana began their five-city press tour in New York City to promote “Mayhem,” their upcoming bout following “The Moment” earlier this year. For the casual boxing fan, you might wonder, “why should I watch this fight?” I will give you five reasons why this rematch is one that needs to be viewed on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, whether you order it at home, see it in a theater, or go to a fight party.

1) The first fight was very close.

At the conclusion of their first battle, Mayweather earned a majority decision, but there are many who think El Chino won. Judge Michael Pernick scored the fight a draw (114-114) while Burt Clemens scored 117-111 and Dave Moretti 116-112, so it was definitely a close fight.

2) This is only Mayweather’s second rematch of his career.

Mayweather has only had one other opponent that was worthy of a rematch, José Luis Castillo back in 2002 when the current highest paid athlete in the world was in his mid-20s. The first fight being close dictated that there should be a rematch.

3) Mayweather is still must-watch television.

The last Mayweather versus Maidana fight was a circus, literally, with a juggler, clown and more walking toward the ring before Floyd. He also was escorted to the ring by Lil Wayne and Justin Bieber, and many stars, including Rick Ross, 2Chainz, Tyrese, Kendrick Lamar, Jake Gyllenhaal, Young Jeezy, Rev. Run and many others, were in the crowd to see the fight. Many of them will be there on Sept. 13 as well.
