4) The Ukraine– With the shooting down of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 the world can no longer ignore the crisis in the Ukraine. The crash killed 298 people including one American and has placed Russia on the world stage once again. It is widely believed that Russia supplied the missile system used to shoot down the jet and has played a major role in destabilizing the region. Obama has responded by imposing tough economic sanctions on Russian held assets in the United States. These sanctions impact Russian President Vladimir Putin and his inner circle.
